Dhaka, July 4, 2025: The Indian cricket team’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh, scheduled to take place from August 17 to 31, has reportedly been postponed indefinitely, according to Indian media reports released on Friday.

The tour was set to feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), but sources say the Indian government has directed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to delay the tour due to heightened political tensions between the two countries.

So far, neither the BCCI nor the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued an official confirmation of the postponement. However, preparations in Bangladesh—including the sale of media rights—have been put on hold, and broadcasters have reportedly been informed that the series will not proceed as planned.

A senior BCB official, speaking to Indian media on condition of anonymity, said, “The date for the India series hasn’t been fixed yet. They (the BCCI) said it’s difficult for them to come in August. This is part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP).”

On the Indian side, BCCI officials have remained tight-lipped, though a source indicated that a final decision is expected within the coming week. A joint statement from both boards is likely to follow to clarify the tour’s status.

The BCB had included the India tour as a highlight of its ongoing international calendar. Under the FTP cycle ending in May 2027, Bangladesh is set to host 49 international matches, including eight Tests (two each against Ireland, Pakistan, West Indies, and England), 20 ODIs, and 21 T20Is.

The postponement casts uncertainty over one of the region’s most anticipated cricketing contests and reflects the growing strain in diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
