Lahore, July 10, 2025: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan has initiated formal proceedings on disqualification references filed against 26 suspended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs under Articles 63(2) and 113 of the Constitution.

According to a statement issued by the Punjab Assembly Secretariat, the Speaker has summoned the suspended lawmakers for a personal hearing tomorrow (July 11) at 11:00 a.m. in the Speaker’s Chamber.

Under the constitutional mandate, the Speaker is required to decide on disqualification references within 30 days of receipt.

A spokesperson for the Assembly clarified that all proceedings will adhere strictly to Article 10A of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to a fair hearing. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan emphasized that each member named in the references will be given a full and fair opportunity to present their case within the constitutional and legal framework.

The references pertain to the alleged violations by the PTI lawmakers that led to their suspension, details of which are expected to emerge during the upcoming hearings.
