Islamabad, July 10, 2025: A team from the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman) Secretariat, led by Advisor Mr. Haroon Sikandar Pasha, held a Khuli Katchery (open court) in Kahuta on Thursday to hear public complaints against federal government departments and agencies, including Sui Gas, Electricity, NADRA, and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
A large number of citizens participated in the session and raised concerns over a range of issues. These included the dilapidated condition of roads in Kahuta, fallen electricity poles posing hazards to commuters, and inaction by relevant departments despite repeated public appeals.
Several complainants alleged corruption within the electricity department, claiming officials demand bribes before initiating repair work. Common complaints included delays in new electricity connections, non-installation of transformers, excessive billing, delays in CNIC issuance, and discontinuation of BISP financial assistance.
Mr. Haroon Sikandar Pasha and his team responded by issuing on-the-spot instructions to representatives of federal agencies present at the gathering for the immediate resolution of complaints. Issues falling under provincial jurisdiction were forwarded to the concerned departments for follow-up.
The Khuli Katchery was attended by officials from federal departments, district administration representatives, Assistant Commissioner Kahuta, and members of the media.
Earlier, the Wafaqi Mohtasib team delivered an awareness session highlighting the role and responsibilities of the Ombudsman’s office. They praised the media’s contribution to public awareness, stating that media outreach has played a vital role in educating citizens about how to access relief through the Wafaqi Mohtasib’s platform.
“We are witnessing a steady increase in the number of complaints due to the valuable awareness efforts of the media,” the team noted.
The open court reflects the Ombudsman’s continued commitment to public service, accountability, and accessible grievance redressal at the grassroots level.
