Karachi, July 18, 2025: The mysterious death of model and actress Humaira Asghar has taken a significant turn as forensic analysis has ruled out poisoning as the cause, according to chemical examination results received by the Karachi police on Friday.

The University of Karachi’s forensic laboratory examined nine biological samples, none of which tested positive for toxic substances. Officials say the findings diminish suspicions of foul play, suggesting the death may have been the result of natural causes, though investigations remain ongoing and the final cause of death is still under review.

Humaira’s body was discovered on July 8 in a locked fourth-floor apartment in the city’s Ittehad Commercial Area. Gizri Police, executing an eviction order over unpaid rent since April 2024, forcibly entered the residence with the assistance of a court bailiff. The presence of a strong foul odor raised alarms, but her death had gone unnoticed for an extended period—likely due to the adjacent flat being unoccupied and her unit’s doors sealed.

Despite the forensic findings, Humaira’s parents have rejected the theory of a natural death, maintaining their belief that foul play was involved. They also denied reports that the actress was facing financial hardship.

Born on October 10, 1992, in Lahore, Humaira Asghar Ali was a multitalented artist. A graduate of the National College of Arts (NCA) in Fine Arts, Television, and Film, she later completed an M.Phil. from Punjab University. She launched her modeling career in 2013 before transitioning to acting, with roles in several TV dramas and a notable appearance in the 2015 feature film Jalaibee.

Her career reached new heights after appearing in the 2022 reality show Tamasha Ghar, which significantly boosted her public profile. In addition to her entertainment career, Humaira was a painter, sculptor, and fitness enthusiast, amassing a social media following of over 715,000 on Instagram.

Her last Instagram post, dated September 30, 2024, showed no outward signs of distress but marked the beginning of a long public silence.

While the initial investigation leaned toward unnatural causes, the latest forensic findings point in the opposite direction. Nonetheless, police say they are continuing to investigate the full circumstances of her untimely death.
