Islamabad, July 27, 2025: Authorities in the federal capital have uncovered a disturbing illegal meat operation at a farmhouse in the Tarnol area, where donkey meat was allegedly being processed for sale in local markets and exported abroad.

The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA), in coordination with local police and the district administration, conducted a raid on the premises and recovered approximately 25 maunds (over 900 kilograms) of processed meat, which was immediately seized and destroyed. Officials also found around 60 live donkeys at the site.

A foreign national present at the location was arrested and handed over to police for further investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the operation may be part of a broader supply network with international links.

Dr. Tahira Siddique, Deputy Director of the Islamabad Food Authority, confirmed the recovery of the animals and the scale of the illegal activity. “It was revealed that the meat was allegedly being supplied not only to the local market but was also being exported abroad,” she stated.

Investigators believe the operation was being managed by a Chinese national who had been active in the Tarnol area for a significant period. The farmhouse was reportedly being used without authorization for the preparation and distribution of meat products.

Authorities have launched a deeper investigation to trace the supply chain, identify local and international buyers, and determine how long the illicit business had been operating.

Dr. Siddique emphasized the gravity of the situation: “Ensuring the availability of safe and quality food in Islamabad is the Food Authority’s top priority. We are enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against those who endanger public health.”

The Islamabad Food Authority has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food-related activities or low-quality meat to the authorities, so such illegal operations can be swiftly dismantled.
