CDA intensifies anti-encroachment drive across Islamabad on Interior Minister’s directions

Islamabad, July 28, 2025: An important meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters on Monday under the chairmanship of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The session was attended by senior officials including CDA Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafiz, IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, DG Building Control and Housing, Director ICT, and others.

The meeting reviewed the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign across Islamabad, launched on the directives of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The campaign, led by Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, aims to reclaim state land, restore public access pathways, water channels, and green belts, and ensure a clean and safe urban environment for the residents.

Briefing the meeting, officials noted that the CDA’s Anti-Encroachment Department has recently removed dozens of illegal shops, structures, and other unauthorized encroachments from various parts of the capital. Chairman Randhawa stated that further legal action is ongoing, and the campaign will continue with full force.

Emphasizing Islamabad’s identity as a planned and well-structured city, the Chairman said all relevant departments have been instructed to take indiscriminate action against encroachers and swiftly respond to public complaints. He added that a permanent monitoring mechanism is being established to prevent the recurrence of illegal occupation on reclaimed land.

Chairman Randhawa also urged residents to report any encroachments on drainage channels directly to the CDA Building Control and Housing Department or the Enforcement Directorate. He assured that upon receipt of such reports, illegal structures would be sealed and dealt with according to law.

The CDA reiterated its commitment to preserving the aesthetic and legal integrity of Islamabad and called for public cooperation in the campaign to ensure sustainable urban development.
