Islamabad, October 8, 2024–The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a warning that it will initiate action and impose penalties against non-filers after October 14. In the past week alone, the FBR has received over 392,000 additional income tax returns from taxpayers.

The FBR emphasized that only six days remain until the extended deadline for filing 2024 tax returns, and strict action will be taken after the deadline.

According to FBR statistics, the total number of tax return filers has exceeded 4.03 million, with over Rs 105 billion in taxes already collected. Compared to last year, the number of tax return filers has increased by 1.97 million.

Since July 1, 2024, a total of 392,884 new individuals have registered with the tax system. Additionally, 1.48 million individuals have declared zero taxable income. The FBR has cautioned that if non-filers fail to submit their returns by October 14, legal action will be taken against them. Restrictions may include bans on purchasing property and vehicles, limitations on foreign travel, suspension of mobile SIMs, and disconnection of electricity services.
