Lahore, August 11, 2025: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has granted the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) a short extension to confirm the national team’s participation in the upcoming FIH Pro League, Pakistani media reported on Monday.
According to sources, the deadline for PHF’s response, initially set to expire on August 12, has been extended by a few days. A high-level meeting, chaired by Rana Sanaullah, is scheduled for tomorrow to finalise Pakistan’s decision.
The meeting will also include the Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, the Secretary of Finance, and representatives from both the PHF and the Pakistan Sports Board, who will present their proposals.
Last month, the FIH formally invited Pakistan to join the Pro League’s upcoming season, set to begin in December, after New Zealand withdrew from the tournament citing financial constraints.
Launched in 2019, the FIH Pro League is contested annually by the world’s top nine national hockey teams. The team finishing with the most points is crowned champion and awarded the Pro League Trophy.
