Islamabad, August 13, 2025: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced on Wednesday that this year’s Independence Day celebrations will also mark Pakistan Armed Forces’ victory in the Maarka-e-Haq.

Addressing the media, Tarar said the nation will commemorate August 14 with double enthusiasm, celebrating both freedom and military triumph. “Allah Almighty has blessed us with the gift of freedom,” he remarked, adding that citizens from all walks of life — from children to the elderly — were proudly waving the national flag in the streets.

Crowds have already begun gathering with flags in front of Parliament House and other key landmarks. Tarar said the celebrations cut across political divides, noting that “while some are talking about protests on Independence Day, the nation is focused on celebration.”

The minister called the festivities a clear message to India that “vibrant nations cherish their freedom and rejoice in their victories.” He announced that a nationwide fireworks display would be broadcast live from various cities, including Islamabad, at midnight.

Independence Day events tomorrow will feature national songs, special parades, and flag-hoisting ceremonies across the country, with a special gathering planned at Shakarparian.

Congratulating the nation on both Independence Day and the Maarka-e-Haq victory, Tarar said the occasion symbolized Pakistan’s unity, resolve, and courage.

Responding to a question, he confirmed that a PML-N consultative meeting on upcoming by-elections was recently held in Murree. Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb did not attend as she is abroad, with one of her brothers contesting a seat.
