Islamabad, August 20, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with China, inviting Chinese companies to invest in diverse sectors of the country’s economy, particularly maritime industries.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation, led by its Chairman Hou Jianxin, here the Prime Minister’s Office news release said.

“Pakistan and China have always stood by each other in every testing time,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said, adding that Pakistan aspires to elevate bilateral economic cooperation to new heights. He assured the delegation that the government would provide all possible facilities for Chinese investors, especially in the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Briefings during the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s ship-breaking and ship-recycling sectors, which possess enormous untapped potential. The Shandong Group expressed keen interest in building a green ship-breaking yard and developing a maritime industrial complex in Pakistan.

The Chinese company also showed interest in tapping Pakistan’s opportunities in fisheries, fish processing, and date processing industries.

Chairman Hou Jianxin thanked the Prime Minister and the Government of Pakistan for their facilitation and support, acknowledging the country’s attractive investment potential.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the Prime Minister’s Advisor Dr. Tauqir Shah, and senior government officials also attended the meeting.
