IRGC kills 13 terrorists, detains others in major crackdown in Sistan-Balouchestan

Tehran, August 27, 2025: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has carried out three coordinated operations against terrorist groups in Iran’s southeastern Sistan-Balouchestan province, killing 13 militants and detaining several others, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base, the operations were launched in the early hours of Wednesday in Iranshahr, Khash, and Saravan, in collaboration with the country’s Intelligence Ministry. The crackdown targeted hideouts linked to groups involved in recent attacks on security forces.

Separately, General Saeed Montazeralmahdi, spokesperson for the Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA), confirmed that those behind a recent assault on a police base in Iranshahr had been “neutralised.” He said eight militants directly involved in the raid on the Daman Police Station — which left several police officers martyred — were killed in the latest counter-terror action.

Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition, including arms looted during the police station attack.

The operations follow an August 22 ambush on two police patrols along the Khash–Iranshahr road, in which five officers were killed. The militant group Jaish al-Adl, which has carried out multiple attacks in the region in recent years, claimed responsibility for that assault.

Authorities said the latest crackdown demonstrates Iran’s resolve to eliminate armed groups operating in Sistan-Balouchestan, a province that has long faced cross-border militancy and smuggling activities.
