Rome, August 28, 2025: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities.

Speaking at a press conference in Rome on Thursday, Prince Faisal stressed that “the two-state solution is the only path to peace in the region,” and underscored the need for a credible political process to restore stability.

He echoed remarks by Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, reaffirming Riyadh and Rome’s shared position on the urgency of ending the war. The Saudi minister also touched on broader global issues, voicing support for efforts to mediate peace in the Russia–Ukraine conflict.

Prince Faisal’s visit follows Meloni’s official trip to Riyadh eight months earlier, which resulted in $10 billion worth of bilateral agreements, signaling growing economic and strategic cooperation between the two nations.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned Israel’s attack on Nasser Hospital in Gaza, calling it “unconscionable.” He warned that further escalation in Gaza City would bring devastating humanitarian consequences.

“Gaza is full of rubble and bodies,” Guterres said, describing the destruction as unprecedented. He cautioned against Israel’s reported plans to take full military control of Gaza, calling such a move “extremely dangerous.”

The UN chief also decried the ongoing blockade, saying, “No war has ever seen civilians deliberately starved.” He declared famine in Gaza an undeniable reality, labeling the crisis a “major catastrophe.”
