Lakki Marwat, September 28, 2025: Security forces killed 17 militants in a major operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, including a Bangladeshi national identified as Saad Al-Kharasani, officials said on Sunday.
According to security sources, Saad had paid Rs300,000 to reach Afghanistan, where he was later recruited by extremist groups under the guise of religious activities. His Bangladeshi identity card, cash, and other belongings were recovered from the site. Investigators added that two to three other Bangladeshis had also been killed in earlier counterterrorism operations inside Pakistan.
Pakistani intelligence agencies have since shared information with Dhaka, leading to the arrest of two suspects in Bangladesh, the officials said.
The Lakki Marwat operation was launched after credible reports of militant presence in the area. During the clash, seven injured militants managed to escape, and a search operation is ongoing to track them down.
Weapons and ammunition recovered from the slain militants confirmed their involvement in attacks on security forces and civilians. Officials said the group had also received support from India.
Separately, footage from a recent successful operation in Karak was released, showing security forces eliminating militants in a fierce gun battle.
Military officials said the latest operations underscored Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism, stressing the need for continued vigilance and international cooperation.
“This operation sends a clear warning to militants seeking to disrupt peace,” one official said, adding that authorities remain committed to ensuring the security of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the country as a whole.
