Peshawar, October 8, 2025: The Embassy of Romania in Pakistan organized the “Peshawar Annual Ambassadorial Retreat – Romania EU+” over the weekend of October 4–5, 2025, bringing together ambassadors from European Union (EU) member states and non-EU missions in Pakistan to strengthen diplomatic engagement and cultural understanding.

The two-day retreat, held in collaboration with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provided an informal yet substantive platform for diplomats to exchange ideas on regional and global issues, while also experiencing Peshawar’s historical and cultural heritage.

In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dan Stoenescu, described the retreat as “a wonderful occasion to strengthen dialogue and friendship among EU ambassadors and fellow non-EU heads of mission in a relaxed and collegial atmosphere.”

He noted that the discussions allowed participants to share perspectives “in a spirit of camaraderie” while deepening their appreciation for Pakistan’s cultural diversity and hospitality.

The retreat featured both formal diplomatic sessions and cultural excursions, including visits to Peshawar’s centuries-old landmarks, traditional bazaars, and heritage sites, offering delegates an immersive experience of Pashtun culture and history.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, also attended the retreat and interacted with the visiting diplomats, commending their efforts to enhance cooperation between Pakistan, Romania, and other participating countries. His presence, Ambassador Stoenescu said, “added great value to our discussions and highlighted the enduring friendship between Romania, the European Union member states, and Pakistan’s diplomatic community.”

The retreat was hosted at the Peshawar Barracks Heritage Hotel, a venue praised for its historic charm and cultural ambiance. Ambassador Stoenescu extended gratitude to the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Peshawar for its generous support in organizing the event and to the hotel management for their hospitality.

“It was truly an inspiring and memorable weekend of diplomacy, culture, and friendship,” the ambassador remarked, reflecting on the success of the event.

The “Peshawar Annual Ambassadorial Retreat – Romania EU+” stands as a testament to Romania’s commitment to promoting dialogue, partnership, and cultural understanding within Pakistan and the broader international diplomatic community.
