Peshawar, October 10, 2025: Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), on [date] said on Thursday that while all politicians are “respectable,” the politics of any single individual cannot be placed above the state.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Lt-Gen. Chaudhry addressed questions from media and warned against efforts to place the armed forces at the centre of partisan politics. He said gaps in governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being borne by the sacrifices of security personnel.
“There is a political and criminal nexus behind the terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said, urging political figures to refrain from misleading rhetoric. “Do not bring us into your politics. Keep the army away from cheap sloganeering and misleading propaganda,” he added.
Lt-Gen. Chaudhry warned that any individual — irrespective of office or status — found facilitating terrorists would face intensified action. “No single person should be allowed to barter the state’s interests and the lives, property and honour of the Pakistani people for personal gain,” he said, adding that the nation stood united “like an iron wall” against terrorists and their facilitators.
The DG ISPR’s remarks reiterate the military’s stance on security and governance in the province and call on political leaders and tribal elders to cooperate in efforts to eliminate extremist networks.
