Islamabad, October 23, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday announced a concessional electricity package aimed at supporting Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors. The announcement came during a meeting with a delegation of industry experts and representatives of the business community.
Under the new package, industries and farmers will be provided additional electricity at subsidized rates for a period of three years — from November 2025 to October 2028.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said that, by the grace of Allah and due to better economic policies, Pakistan’s economic indicators have shown improvement. However, he emphasized that collective effort and continued hard work are still required to sustain progress.
Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged that the transition from economic crisis to stability had been difficult, but credited the achievement to the dedication of his economic team and cooperation from the business community. “Their efforts helped keep the industrial wheel moving, boosted exports, and created employment opportunities,” he noted.
Highlighting the results of a previous initiative, the prime minister said that during the winter package announced last year, the industrial and agricultural sectors consumed an additional 410 gigawatt-hours of electricity. He stressed that the growth of both sectors is vital for national economic development and job creation.
Shehbaz Sharif further stated that the government is taking concrete steps to enhance the competitiveness of domestic industries and the agriculture sector within the region, as well as to improve ease of doing business. “When our industries and agriculture grow, Pakistan will move towards freedom from debt,” he concluded.
