Islamabad, November 15,2025: Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day state visit, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari at the Nur Khan Airbase.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari were also present to welcome the Jordanian monarch and his delegation.

President Zardari said the visit would add a “new strategic dimension” to Pakistan–Jordan ties, which he described as rooted in historical brotherhood, mutual trust and shared values. State broadcaster PTV News stated that the visit reflects the “longstanding fraternal relations” between the two nations and is expected to further strengthen political, economic and cultural cooperation.

During the visit, King Abdullah II will hold a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, followed by delegation-level talks aimed at expanding bilateral collaboration.

As the royal aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, a formation of Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunder jets escorted it to Islamabad, according to the President’s Secretariat. Upon reaching the Prime Minister’s House, the king was presented with a guard of honour.

King Abdullah II last visited Pakistan during the tenure of former president Mamnoon Hussain, during which both sides signed two memoranda of understanding — one on cooperation in civil protection and defence, and the other in the housing sector.

The monarch’s latest trip follows his meeting last month with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Amman, where he praised the Pakistani military’s contributions to regional peace and security. Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II was also present at that meeting.
