Lahore, November 16, 2025: Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been entrusted with major responsibilities within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sources confirmed on Sunday.

According to insiders, the 38-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been assigned oversight of the Pakistan Shaheens and the Under-19 national team. His role will include monitoring the performance of coaching staff, supervising team preparations, and managing domestic and international tours.

Sources added that Sarfaraz will also accompany both squads during training camps and home series to ensure implementation of performance standards and developmental objectives.

Sarfaraz, who enjoyed a distinguished international career, represented Pakistan in 54 Tests, scoring 3,031 runs with four centuries and 21 half-centuries. In 117 ODIs, he accumulated 2,315 runs, while in 61 T20Is, he scored 818 runs, including three fifties.

Beyond his batting credentials, Sarfaraz is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most successful captains in recent years. He led the national side to its historic 2017 ICC Champions Trophy triumph, defeating India by 180 runs in the final, and maintained an overall win rate of 70% during his tenure.

He also guided Pakistan to a 62.5% win rate at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, winning five of nine matches, while his T20I captaincy record stands out with a remarkable 78.37% win rate, securing 29 victories in 37 games.

Sarfaraz last appeared for Pakistan in the 2023 Perth Test against Australia.
