Islamabad/Brussels, November 22, 2025: Pakistan and the European Union on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to a “broad-based, multidimensional and forward-looking partnership” grounded in shared values, the UN Charter, multilateralism and mutual cooperation, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.
The reaffirmation came during the seventh Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired in Brussels by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas.
According to the FO, the meeting reviewed the “full spectrum” of Pakistan–EU relations, benefitting from a recent surge in high-level exchanges and robust institutional engagement.
Both sides stressed the need to deepen trade and investment ties, particularly through the EU’s GSP+ scheme, which the FO said supports sustainable growth, export diversification, job creation and mutually beneficial economic opportunities.
The dialogue also included an exchange of views on key regional and global developments, including the situation in South Asia, Afghanistan, the Middle East and wider geopolitical dynamics.
Pakistan and the EU underscored the importance of coordinated approaches to peace, stability, sustainable development and global challenges such as climate change and connectivity. They also agreed to enhance cooperation under the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP 2019), advance work on ongoing dialogues and identify concrete avenues for future collaboration.
On the sidelines of the 4th EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, Dar held several bilateral interactions with participating leaders.
He met Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdusalam Abdi Ali for what the FO described as a “constructive exchange,” reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and supporting regional stability.
Dar also met Ambassador Andrea Orizio, Head of Delegation for Italy, where discussions focused on enhancing Pakistan–Italy relations, boosting economic engagement and working together within broader Pakistan–EU frameworks.
In his meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, the two sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, connectivity and climate resilience, while also emphasising continued engagement through multilateral platforms to advance shared priorities.
