Pakistani duo makes history, reaches semifinals at ATP Tour event

Islamabad, November 27, 2025: A historic moment unfolded at the Pakistan ATP Challenger Cup 2025 as the Pakistani pair of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Muzammil Murtaza became the first duo from the country to reach the semifinals of an ATP Tour event.

The prestigious tournament, held at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad, features 25 international players from countries including Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Australia, Italy, Bulgaria, Austria, Sweden, Georgia, Great Britain, and Switzerland, alongside 10 of Pakistan’s top-ranked players.

In a thrilling men’s doubles quarterfinal, Qureshi and Murtaza defeated Johan Nikles of Switzerland and Vadym Ursu of Ukraine 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-7 to secure their spot in the semifinals. Their achievement marks a landmark milestone for Pakistan’s tennis history and has been hailed as a moment of immense national pride.
