Rawalpindi, November 29, 2025: Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first against Sri Lanka in the final of the home T20I tri-series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The match began with a moment of silence observed by players, officials and spectators to honour the victims of the recent devastating floods in Sri Lanka. The gesture reflected solidarity with the Sri Lankan people as they continue to recover from the widespread disaster.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Fred Seneviratne, along with the Deputy High Commissioner, attended the final to witness the high-stakes encounter. The atmosphere inside the stadium was electric, with fans eagerly awaiting an intense showdown between the two sides.

Pakistan made a single change to their playing XI, recalling left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi in place of Mohammad Wasim Jr. Sri Lanka, confident after their crucial league-stage win, fielded an unchanged lineup.

Both teams share a competitive T20I history, having met 26 times before Saturday’s final. Pakistan lead the rivalry with 15 wins, while Sri Lanka have registered 11 victories.

Their latest clash in this tri-series was a nail-biter, with Sri Lanka clinching a six-run win to secure their place in the final.

Pakistan enter the title match with strong momentum, boasting a five-match winning streak — three triumphs in this tri-series and two from their recent home series against South Africa. Sri Lanka, backed by their earlier win over Pakistan, aim to carry that confidence forward as they fight for the trophy.
