London, December 1, 2025: Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali has confirmed his availability for the 2026 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), marking his return to the tournament after five years. The 38-year-old, who was recently released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, announced the development through an Instagram post on Monday.

Moeen, who previously represented Multan Sultans in the 2020 PSL season, said he was “excited to be joining HBL PSL in its new era,” adding that the league’s growing competitiveness and passionate fanbase had motivated his decision.

“The league has earned a reputation for top-level T20 cricket, with high-quality competition and world-class talent across every team,” Moeen said. “Playing in Pakistan is always incredible… I’m looking forward to being part of it all and creating some great memories along the way. Ready for another special experience, Insha’Allah!”

The timing of his announcement has raised questions about his participation in IPL 2026, as a significant portion of the PSL and IPL calendars are expected to overlap next year. While Moeen has not explicitly ruled out taking part in the IPL, committing to the PSL could reduce his chances of being signed by an IPL franchise.

Moeen’s release from KKR came after a quiet season in 2026, where he featured in six matches, scoring only five runs across two innings. Despite his struggles with the bat, he claimed six wickets in the tournament, offering some value in the middle overs.

With his PSL comeback now confirmed, Moeen Ali is set to add experience and star power to the league as it enters what organizers describe as a transformational “new era.”
