Jerusalem, December 9, 2025: Israel is set to reopen the Allenby Crossing with Jordan for the passage of goods and humanitarian aid on Wednesday, an Israeli security official confirmed on Tuesday.

The crossing, a vital trade route between Jordan and Israel and the only gateway for over 3 million Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to access Jordan and beyond, had been closed to aid shipments since September. The closure followed an incident in which a driver carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza opened fire, killing two Israeli soldiers before being shot dead by security forces.

The official said that security measures at the crossing would be significantly tightened, including stricter screening of Jordanian drivers and their cargo. A dedicated security force has been assigned to oversee operations at the crossing.

While the Allenby Bridge had reopened to passenger traffic shortly after the September attack, aid trucks remained barred. According to the United Nations, the crossing is a critical route for transporting food, tents, and other essential goods into Gaza.
