Lahore, December 13,2025: Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday said that legislation mandating the disclosure of government employees’ assets had already been enacted in line with Pakistan’s commitments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the minister said the IMF had called for greater transparency regarding the assets of public servants, adding that this requirement was fulfilled as a practical reform measure rather than an additional condition of the programme.

He said the assets of civil servants and all parliamentarians are published annually on a government website on December 31.

Speaking on economic growth, Aurangzeb said job creation was not the government’s direct responsibility, stressing that the private sector must play a leading role in generating employment. He said the government’s role was to facilitate businesses and create a supportive environment for economic activity.

Highlighting ongoing reforms, the finance minister said the expansion of the digital economy and e-commerce had boosted business activity across the country. He added that efforts to broaden the tax base and provide facilitation to taxpayers had helped build trust, while the introduction of automated tax collection systems had enhanced transparency and public confidence.

Aurangzeb credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s economic team for reform-oriented measures that, he said, had led to a noticeable reduction in corruption, adding that inflation remained under control.

He said Pakistan was moving towards sustainable development, noting that improved economic indicators reflected investor-friendly policies and structural reforms. The revival of local industries and growing confidence among investors and traders had contributed to overall business growth, he added.

Referring to the digital economy, the minister said Pakistan must continue to move in this direction, adding that agreements to grant licences to crypto exchanges would further strengthen the financial sector.

He said more than 25 million Pakistanis were engaged in crypto-related activities, most of them young people, and expressed confidence that these developments would help move the economy and the country forward.
