Islamabad Capital Territory finished 11th in the overall standings with two gold, five silver and 11 bronze medals.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan were the only participating teams that failed to win any gold, silver or bronze medals, managing just seven bronze medals between them and finishing at the bottom of the table.
On the occasion, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari presented Field Marshal Asim Munir with a traditional Sindhi cap and ajrak.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Bilawal said the National Games were not merely a sporting competition but a celebration of Pakistan’s unity and diversity. “From Gilgit-Baltistan to Gwadar, from Khyber to Karachi, and from Lahore to Larkana, every athlete carried the colours of their province while standing united under one flag,” he said.
Expressing pride in Sindh for hosting the event, he praised the athletes for representing discipline, perseverance and national unity, regardless of whether they returned home with medals or memories.
Bilawal highlighted the broader values instilled through sports, including teamwork, courage, respect for rules and resilience, calling them national values.
Referring to the May conflict with India, he commended the armed forces for their professionalism and coordination, saying Pakistan had successfully defended its sovereignty. “This was not only a military victory, but a national one,” he said.
He concluded by expressing hope that the spirit of unity and friendship fostered during the Games would endure beyond the competition.
The 35th National Games featured 14 teams comprising departments and provinces, including host Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Wapda, Pakistan Police and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
