Rawalpindi, December 29, 2025: Security forces on Monday carried out a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area of Khar, Bajaur District, killing five militants affiliated with Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to a statement, the operation was launched on the reported presence of Khwarij terrorists in the area. During the conduct of the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants, resulting in the killing of five Indian-sponsored Khwarij.
However, during an intense exchange of fire, Major Adeel Zaman, 36, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan District, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. The officer fought gallantly and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who, according to the statement, were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces and law enforcement agencies, as well as in the killing of innocent civilians.
Sanitization operations are currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khwarij. The statement reaffirmed that the security forces of Pakistan, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, will continue their relentless counterterrorism campaign under the national vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
The nation, the statement added, salutes the supreme sacrifice of Major Adeel Zaman and reaffirms its resolve to defeat terrorism in all its forms.
