Former FCCI President calls on Malaysian High Commissioner, discusses economic outlook

Islamabad, January 6,2026 Dr. Khurram Tariq, former President of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), paid a courtesy call on High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, H.E. Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, at the Malaysian High Commission.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the prevailing economic environment in Pakistan, including challenges faced by the business community, macroeconomic trends, and prospects for industrial recovery. Dr. Khurram Tariq shared insights into Pakistan’s manufacturing and export sectors, highlighting Faisalabad’s pivotal role as a major industrial hub.

The discussion also covered Pakistan’s political landscape and its implications for economic stability, investor confidence, and regional trade. Dr. Khurram Tariq outlined ongoing reforms and policy measures aimed at improving the ease of doing business and attracting foreign investment.

Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained engagement between Malaysian and Pakistani business communities to identify and capitalize on mutually beneficial opportunities.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding on strengthening people-to-people and business-to-business linkages, as well as exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan in support of inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
