Indonesian Defence Minister calls on COAS to boost bilateral military cooperation

Rawalpindi, January 12, 2026: Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd), Minister of Defence of Indonesia, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, COAS & CDF, at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, to discuss bilateral defence cooperation and regional security dynamics.

The meeting focused on enhancing institutional linkages, training collaboration, and defence industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained engagement and closer military-to-military ties.

The visiting minister commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s intention to expand defence relations across multiple domains.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a strong and enduring defence partnership with Indonesia, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and aligned strategic interests.
