In her opening remarks, Convener Ms. Saba Sadiq emphasized the significance Pakistan attaches to its relations with Viet Nam and highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in complementing government-to-government engagement. She called for strengthened inter-parliamentary cooperation as a platform to advance trade, cultural exchange, people-to-people contact, and mutual understanding. She also expressed the desire to establish a counterpart Parliamentary Friendship Group within the Vietnamese National Assembly to institutionalize regular engagement.

Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan thanked the PFG for the warm reception and reaffirmed Viet Nam’s commitment to enhancing bilateral ties. He pointed to opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, renewable energy, digital technology, and cultural exchange, underscoring the value of parliamentary interaction and people-to-people connectivity.

Members of the Friendship Group discussed sector-specific collaboration in textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, halal products, and tourism. They highlighted the importance of promoting business-to-business engagement, joint ventures, trade delegations, and direct air connectivity to boost commercial and tourism exchanges.

Cultural and heritage cooperation was also emphasized, including potential visits to Taxila and engagement with Pakistan’s Gandhara civilization, as well as exhibitions, cultural programs, and institutional collaboration to deepen mutual appreciation of shared historical heritage.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to sustained parliamentary engagement and structured dialogue, aimed at further strengthening Pakistan–Viet Nam relations across multiple sectors.
