Islamabad, January 20, 2026: Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss ways to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations, emphasizing trade and commerce as central pillars of the partnership. They explored how enhanced cooperation could support economic growth, food security, and greater market access for businesses in both nations.

The talks highlighted opportunities for mutually beneficial arrangements in key imports and exports, particularly in agriculture and food products, as well as other sectors where both countries hold comparative advantages. Both officials noted that a predictable and dynamic trading environment would encourage private sector participation, create jobs, and strengthen supply chains.

Ambassador Fernandez welcomed Pakistan’s interest in expanding economic engagement and reiterated the Philippines’ readiness to explore practical avenues to broaden trade and investment ties. Federal Minister Khan expressed appreciation for the Philippines’ constructive approach and confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Philippine counterparts to unlock the full potential of bilateral trade.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination through existing bilateral mechanisms and continue exploring new initiatives to promote sustainable, balanced, and mutually beneficial economic cooperation between the Philippines and Pakistan.
