Islamabad, February 3, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) to review the privatization process of various state-owned entities (SOEs).
The committee endorsed the Privatisation Commission’s decision to initiate a second cycle of privatization for the House Building Finance Company (HBFC). It also recommended including the outsourcing of Islamabad Airport through the Privatisation Commission.
Senator Dar emphasized that sponsoring ministries and the Privatisation Commission must ensure fair market valuation that reflects both existing assets and future business prospects. He reiterated that privatization would help encourage private-sector investment and enable entities to adapt more swiftly to evolving market dynamics.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Power Awais Leghari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary Cabinet, Secretary Privatization, Secretary Law Division, Secretary Industries, and other high-level officials.
