Islamabad, February 4, 2026: From January 26 to February 1, the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad actively advanced its diplomatic priorities across multilateral, humanitarian, and cultural platforms, reinforcing partnerships and shared values with Pakistan and the broader diplomatic community.

On January 28, the Philippines participated in the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) Chairship Handover Ceremony held at the Royal Thai Embassy. The country was represented by Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rain Mendoza. The event marked the successful conclusion of Thailand’s ACI chairship and the formal transition to Indonesia, reaffirming ASEAN solidarity, continuity of initiatives, and collective engagement with Pakistan.

On January 30, Ambassador Fernandez, accompanied by Alice Kalaw-Fernandez, attended the IFWA–Mövenpick Fundraising Gala Dinner organized in support of the blind and visually impaired community. The embassy’s participation highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to humanitarian diplomacy, social inclusion, and charitable cooperation. Proceeds from the event will support inclusive education through the acquisition of a Braille embosser for Baseerat School.

Continuing its outreach, the Philippine Embassy joined the 2026 Islamabad Tourism, Sports and Family Festival on January 31, engaging in cultural and people-to-people diplomacy alongside members of the diplomatic corps and local communities. Ambassador Fernandez’s presence at the festival—including witnessing traditional tent pegging and receiving a ceremonial shamla—underscored the Philippines’ support for cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and mutual understanding with Pakistan.

Collectively, these engagements reflect the Philippine Embassy’s multifaceted diplomatic approach aimed at strengthening ASEAN cooperation, supporting inclusive and humanitarian causes, and fostering cultural goodwill in pursuit of enduring international partnerships.
