Islamabad, February 9,2026: A delegation led by Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul, currently on an official visit to Pakistan, called on the President’s Office of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the Cambodian trade minister held meetings with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh. Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Commerce Rana Ihsan Afzal was also present on the occasion.
The meeting was attended by FPCCI Vice President Tariq Jadoon, Chairman FPCCI Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik, Chairman Coordination Malik Suhail Hussain, senior business leader Ahmed Chinoy, and other prominent members of the business community.
Both sides held detailed discussions on enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation across various sectors, including IT, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and other industries.
Addressing the gathering, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the Government of Pakistan has taken sustainable measures to ensure long-term economic growth, the positive outcomes of which are now visible. He noted that the hosting of major international conferences and visits by global leaders in recent months reflects the government’s economic vision.
He expressed confidence that the visit of the Cambodian trade minister would open a new chapter in Pakistan–Cambodia relations. Highlighting opportunities for collaboration, he said there is vast potential for cooperation in IT, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and several other sectors. He added that FPCCI is ready to promote business-to-business (B2B) linkages between the business communities of both countries.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, in his address, recalled that Pakistan’s economy faced severe challenges a few years ago, with inflation exceeding 38 percent and interest rates rising to 22 percent. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took personal interest and worked tirelessly for economic recovery after assuming office.
“While some challenges still exist, the economy has stabilized and is now on the path to growth,” he said, adding that all key economic indicators are positive and international institutions have also acknowledged this progress. He reiterated the government’s commitment to bringing the business communities of Pakistan and Cambodia closer and strengthening B2B ties.
Speaking on the occasion, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul said a significant portion of Cambodia’s imports from Pakistan consists of pharmaceutical products. She expressed her country’s desire to expand bilateral trade volume with Pakistan in other sectors as well.
She highlighted that the Cambodian government offers tax-free and profitable investment opportunities to foreign investors and invited Pakistani and other international investors to explore Cambodia’s investment potential across various sectors. She also announced that agreements would be signed between Pakistan and Cambodia to enhance cooperation in different fields.
Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Commerce Rana Ihsan Afzal welcomed the Cambodian trade minister to Pakistan and said that after assuming power, the Pakistan Muslim League-N government steered the economy toward stability. He credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for putting Pakistan’s economy on a growth trajectory.
He informed that Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have exceeded $20 billion and that interest rates have been significantly reduced. Reducing production costs, facilitating investors, and boosting exports remain among the government’s top priorities, he added.
FPCCI Chairman Coordination Malik Suhail Hussain said there are wide-ranging opportunities for cooperation between Pakistan and Cambodia in multiple sectors. He emphasized that the business communities of both countries should take advantage of investment opportunities, particularly in IT and other emerging sectors.
