Vienna, February 17, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held meetings with former and serving Austrian officials, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Austria.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Dar met Brigitta Blaha, who served as Austria’s Ambassador to Pakistan from 2014 to 2018. During her tenure, Pakistan and Austria signed the Protocol and Additional Protocol amending the Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income in Islamabad in 2015, when Senator Dar was serving as Pakistan’s finance minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also met Werner Fasslabend, former Austrian defence minister, and Gabriela Sellner, Austria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna.
The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and cooperation at multilateral fora. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan–Austria relations and underscored the importance of continued engagement and dialogue.
