Lahore, February 17, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) local and provincial leadership at Bilawal House, where internal party affairs and the country’s prevailing political and economic situation came under discussion.

The meeting was attended by divisional and district presidents of the party, members of the PPP Central Punjab Executive Committee, and newly appointed office-bearers from Central Punjab districts.

Addressing the participants, President Zardari underscored the importance of political dialogue and unity, stating that democratic engagement remains the strongest instrument for justice, national cohesion, and progress. He emphasized perseverance in public service and constructive politics, noting that Pakistan is currently facing economic pressures and political challenges that require patience and sustained collective effort from both party leadership and workers.

Highlighting economic priorities, the President said that strengthening agriculture and ensuring economic stability are crucial for national growth, urging the party to maintain its focus on these sectors. He reaffirmed that the PPP remains steadfastly committed to its founding principles and the legacy of its historic leadership.

Speaking on national security, President Zardari said that the sovereignty, integrity, and security of Pakistan have always been the cornerstone of the PPP. Referring to the party’s leadership lineage—from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari—he said the party continues to stand firm against threats posed by enemies of the country. He added that the PPP stands shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan’s armed forces to counter terrorism and extremism backed by foreign elements.

Earlier, PPP Central Punjab President Raja Pervaiz Ashraf highlighted ongoing efforts to expand the party’s footprint in Punjab, with a particular focus on youth engagement and strengthening organizational structures across the province.

President Peoples Women Wing Central Punjab and MNA Samina Khalid Ghurki spoke about the role of women in political and community mobilization, stressing the importance of grassroots-level engagement.

PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir briefed the meeting on party matters in Lahore and outlined ongoing initiatives addressing public issues.

The session was moderated by Syed Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary PPP Central Punjab, who delivered the opening remarks and introduced divisional presidents and district leadership.
