Rawalpindi, February 23, 2026: The Rawalpindi franchise on Monday unveiled its new team name, Pindiz, ahead of the highly anticipated 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise, recently acquired by Walee Technologies for a staggering Rs2.45 billion at a historic auction held at the Expo Centre, formally announced the rebranding through a 25-second video shared on social media.
The video showcased iconic landmarks of Rawalpindi, set to upbeat music, and carried the message: “Team Rawalpindi’s official franchise name is here. We’re bold. We’re challenging. We’re bringing the vibe. We’re changing the game.”
The franchise also hinted at the upcoming launch of its official logo, stating, “Next up: the official team logo,” while the teaser concluded with the words, “To be continued.”
The franchise was previously known as Multan Sultans, which went under auction after its former owner Ali Tareen opted not to renew the decade-long ownership agreement following the 10th edition of the league last year.
Subsequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) temporarily assumed control of the franchise. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had initially announced that the board would manage the former champions for PSL 11, which will feature eight teams.
However, following the successful auction of two new franchises — Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen and Sialkot Stallionz — acquired by FKS Group and OZ Developers for Rs1.75 billion and Rs1.85 billion respectively, the PCB reversed its decision and opted to auction the Sultans franchise as well.
The PCB subsequently invited bids through a public advertisement and, after what it described as a “thorough and transparent” process, shortlisted five bidders. At the glittering auction, Walee Technologies emerged victorious following a competitive bidding war, most notably with CD Venturers, which placed the second-highest bid.
Under the terms of the sale, the winning bidder was granted the right to rebrand the franchise. Exercising this option, Walee Technologies’ owner Ahsan Tahir announced the decision to rename the team after Rawalpindi, marking a new chapter for the franchise ahead of PSL 11.
