Islamabad, February 27,2026: Ina Lepel, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, on Friday called on Federal Minister Musadik Malik to review ongoing and future cooperation in the climate sector.

During the meeting, both sides discussed continued collaboration on climate adaptation, resilience-building, emissions control, and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are being implemented in part through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which has been supporting Pakistan’s climate action framework.

The discussions also covered the proposed CISTA initiative, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. The initiative aims to strengthen integrated climate services and climate data systems in Pakistan, enhancing evidence-based policymaking and informed climate planning.

Both sides agreed to continue engagement with a focus on implementation readiness, strengthening institutional capacity, and achieving measurable climate outcomes. The cooperation will remain aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement, reaffirming the shared commitment of Germany and Pakistan to global climate action.
