Islamabad/Kahuta, March 2, 2026: Funeral prayers in absentia were offered in Kahuta on Sunday for Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others described by organizers as martyrs, following reports of an attack on Iran. The ceremony was led by Dr. Tariq Saleem, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab, and attended by party workers and local residents. Syed Arif Shirazi, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Rawalpindi District, was also present.

Participants raised slogans condemning the United States and Israel and expressed solidarity with Iran. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tariq Saleem denounced what he described as “open aggression and global terrorism” by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. He referred to reports targeting Iran’s top leadership as a major loss for the Muslim world and accused the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump of pursuing regime change policies in Iran.

Dr. Saleem called for international accountability, urging that both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu be declared war criminals. He appealed to the Government of Pakistan to publicly condemn the alleged attack and express solidarity with Iran. He also questioned whether any authorization had been granted for reported actions against protesters at the American consulate, calling on Shehbaz Sharif to clarify the matter.

Warning that instability in Iran could have wider regional consequences, Dr. Saleem urged unity among Muslim nations, emphasizing that the Islamic world must stand together against what he described as a common threat.
