Moscow, March 5, 2026: Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, on Thursday expressed concern over the ongoing clashes along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border and urged both countries to resolve their differences through dialogue.

In a statement issued in Moscow, Zakharova said Russia was concerned about reports of armed confrontations involving aircraft and heavy weapons across much of the border region, particularly in areas inhabited by Pashtun tribes.

She noted that the recent fighting had resulted in casualties on both sides, while the civilian population was also suffering due to the escalating hostilities. The spokesperson added that Afghan refugees who had returned from neighbouring Pakistan and Iran were among those affected by the violence.

Calling for restraint, Zakharova urged both Afghanistan and Pakistan to avoid further military confrontation and instead address their differences through dialogue based on mutual respect.
