Lahore, March 12, 2026: An agreement has been signed in Lahore with renowned educationist and journalist Dr. Shazia Cheema to promote the tourism potential, culture, and heritage of Uzbekistan through academic platforms in Pakistan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Rovshan Alimov, Political Counsellor at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, who appreciated the initiative aimed at strengthening cultural and educational cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Under the collaboration, Dr. Shazia Cheema will author a book on Uzbekistan highlighting its tourism, rich cultural heritage, and performing arts. The publication will feature the historic cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Tashkent, while also exploring the country’s vibrant artistic traditions and cultural legacy.
The initiative aims to introduce students, researchers, and academic institutions in Pakistan to the historical and cultural treasures of Uzbekistan, encouraging greater cultural understanding and tourism exchange between the two countries.
Officials noted that academia plays a key role in building long-term cultural connections and awareness among the younger generation. The collaboration is expected to contribute to strengthening people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
More initiatives are also planned as part of ongoing efforts to promote Uzbekistan as a unique destination for tourism, culture, education, and heritage.
