Riga/Kyiv, March 30, 2026: Latvia has announced €6.8 million in funding to support the recovery and resilience of Ukraine, reinforcing its continued backing amid the ongoing conflict.
According to official statements, the funding will be directed toward rebuilding critical infrastructure in Ukraine’s Chernihiv and Sumy regions. The assistance will focus on restoring educational facilities, constructing shelters, improving energy supply systems, and strengthening healthcare services.
In addition to reconstruction efforts, Latvia will also contribute to enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities, particularly through the procurement of unmanned systems.
Latvia further signaled its commitment to accountability by announcing its intention to become a founding member of a proposed Special Tribunal to prosecute the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Ukrainian authorities welcomed the move, expressing gratitude for Latvia’s consistent and unwavering support during the ongoing war.
The latest pledge underscores growing international efforts to assist Ukraine in both rebuilding war-affected areas and strengthening its defense and legal frameworks.
