Algiers, September 9, 2026: Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

The Slovak Foreign Minister is on an official visit to Algeria on September 8 and 9, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the existing relations of friendship, cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Slovakia and to continue political dialogue and consultations on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On the occasion, Minister Ahmed Attaf held private talks with his Slovak counterpart, which were later expanded to include members of the delegations of both countries.

The discussions provided an opportunity to review various aspects of bilateral relations, assess the level of existing cooperation and explore ways to give new momentum to cooperation, particularly in priority areas including energy, higher education and scientific research, industry, water resource management and investment promotion.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to continuing efforts to strengthen Algerian-Slovak relations and elevate them to broader levels, in a manner that reflects the potential of both countries and serves their mutual interests.

The talks also covered a number of current regional and international issues of common concern, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultation between the two countries on matters under discussion at regional and international forums.

Following the talks, the two ministers signed a bilateral agreement establishing a Joint Commission aimed at providing a framework for bilateral cooperation and giving it fresh momentum.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Algeria’s Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations and the Slovak Diplomatic Academy, further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the diplomatic and academic fields.
