Islamabad, November 5, 2024 – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has voiced concerns to the government over the lack of equal representation in the Judicial Commission. According to media reports, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raised objections over the unfulfilled promise of balanced representation within the commission, prompting the party to convey its grievances to the federal government.

Citing this failure to uphold the agreement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari withdrew his name from the commission last week. Sources indicate that a prior agreement between the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) stipulated that both parties would have equal representation in the Judicial Commission.

The PPP contends that the Attorney General and the Law Minister also act as government representatives. Following the government’s breach of the agreement, Bilawal Bhutto withdrew from the Judicial Commission, and as a result, Farooq H. Naik assumed the position on behalf of the PPP.
