Islamabad, November 5, 2024-Pakistan and Iran condemned Israel’s military aggression in the Middle East and accused it of committing genocidal acts against civilians, calling out the international community’s inaction. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi voiced these concerns in a joint press conference, denouncing Israel’s violations of international law and the UN Charter as the root cause of Middle Eastern instability.

During their meeting, both leaders emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and de-escalation, aiming to secure the Palestinian right to self-determination. Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for a Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He criticized attempts to equate the right to self-determination with terrorism, underscoring the need for peaceful resolutions to the Palestinian and Kashmiri issues in accordance with UN resolutions.

The ministers discussed enhancing cooperation on trade, energy, and border security and agreed to intensify efforts to counter terrorism and extremism, which threaten regional peace. Dar also expressed gratitude for Iran’s support for Pakistan’s BRICS membership and assistance to Pakistani pilgrims.

As both leaders prepare to meet again at the Joint Islamic Summit in Jeddah, they pledged to coordinate their approach on key issues. Foreign Minister Araghchi condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, affirming Iran’s right to self-defense. He commended Pakistan’s firm stance against Israeli aggression and acknowledged Pakistan’s solidarity with Gaza and the Palestinian cause.

The ministers agreed to strengthen bilateral ties across economic, political, and cultural domains and continue combating terrorism through regional collaboration. Araghchi invited Dar to an upcoming ECO ministerial meeting in Tehran, furthering Pakistan-Iran cooperation.
