Islamabad, November 5, 2024-Two senior Supreme Court judges, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Muneeb Akhtar, have formally requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi to convene a full court bench to hear a plea challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

In a letter to the CJP, the judges highlighted that during an October 31 committee meeting, it was decided to convene a full court bench on November 4. However, they noted that no cause list was issued for this date. The letter further specified that a follow-up committee meeting was held on November 4 under Section 2, during which the decision to form a full court bench was reaffirmed.

The judges also directed the Supreme Court registrar to publish the minutes of the meeting on the SC website.

It is noteworthy that President Asif Ali Zardari recently signed the Practice and Procedure Amendment Ordinance 2024, which has influenced procedural aspects of court operations.
