Islamabad, November 5, 2024 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its fraternal ties with Iran through high-level exchanges and expanded cooperation across multiple areas of shared interest.

During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination and statehood. He condemned Israel’s ongoing actions against Palestinians, describing them as genocidal, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Welcoming Foreign Minister Araghchi on his first official visit to Pakistan in his current role, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended sincere regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Massoud Pezeshkian.

The Prime Minister underscored the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, unimpeded humanitarian aid, and the granting of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, as upheld by UN and OIC resolutions. Additionally, he condemned Israel’s recent attack on Iran on October 26, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s principled stance and shared Iran’s perspective on the regional situation.
