Oslo, April 8,2026: The Minister of foreign affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide has welcomed the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

This gives diplomacy a chance, at a moment when the world stood on the brink of a dangerous escalation. In a message on X, he commended Pakistan, working with Türkiye & Egypt, for their tireless efforts for dialogue.

He said it is important now to ensure a safe and speedy re-opening of traffic through the Hormuz straits. And to work towards turning this temporary ceasefire into a lasting solution that also deals credibly with Iran’s nuclear programme, he added.
