Islamabad, April 8, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed gratitude to key regional and international partners for supporting diplomatic efforts that led to the recently announced ceasefire, as Pakistan prepares to host the upcoming “Islamabad Talks.”

In a statement, the prime minister thanked the governments of the People’s Republic of China, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Türkiye, Arab Republic of Egypt and State of Qatar for their “invaluable and all-out support” in helping create conditions conducive to ceasefire and dialogue.

He also extended appreciation to the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, acknowledging their consistent commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the leadership of partner countries, including the United States of America, for demonstrating “exceptional strategic foresight, sagacity and patience” in allowing diplomacy to take precedence over conflict.

He further thanked global partners and friendly nations for recognising Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and promoting peace at a critical juncture.

As Islamabad gears up for high-level negotiations between key stakeholders, the prime minister called for collective efforts to achieve a “comprehensive and conclusive” resolution to the conflict.

“Let us all work together to forge a lasting peace in the region and beyond,” he said, expressing hope that ongoing diplomatic engagements would lead to sustainable stability.
