Islamabad, April 15, 2026: Salman Akram Raja, Secretary General Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Wednesday dismissed allegations of facilitating the government, terming them baseless during a press conference in the federal capital.

Addressing the media alongside former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair, Raja emphasized the importance of pursuing lasting peace in the region, stating that Pakistan has been presented with a significant opportunity. He described reconciliation as a national responsibility that should transcend political differences.

Criticizing the government’s economic policies, Raja expressed concern over rising fuel prices. He claimed that countries such as India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka had not increased petrol prices to the same extent, highlighting the financial burden on the public.

The PTI leader also distanced himself from remarks made by Aleema Khan regarding the cancellation of the party’s April 9 rally. He maintained that the decision to call off the gathering was appropriate and had been endorsed by PTI founder Imran Khan.

Raja explained that the move followed deliberations within the party’s political committee and was taken in the best interest of the organization. He reiterated his rejection of claims suggesting that the decision amounted to facilitating the government.

He further noted that prominent political figures, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas, had supported the decision, while acknowledging that Aleema Khan was entitled to her personal opinion.

Raja also revealed that senior lawyer Salman Safdar contacted him after his release from jail to convey an important message from Imran Khan. According to Raja, the message reaffirmed the PTI founder’s endorsement of the rally’s cancellation and expressed his full confidence in Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas.

The press conference underscored ongoing developments within PTI as the party navigates political challenges while reiterating its stance on national issues and internal decisions.
