Pak-England test series - ICC rates Multan, Rawalpindi pitches as ‘satisfactory’

Dubai, November 7, 2024- The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the pitches used in Multan and Rawalpindi during the recent Pakistan-England Test series as “satisfactory,” according to a report released Thursday.

The ICC’s evaluation places both pitches at the lowest acceptable standard, meaning they met the minimum criteria for international play without incurring penalties. While not rated as ideal, the pitches were deemed adequate for the series.

The ICC uses a four-tier rating system to assess pitch quality, with categories of very good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory, and unfit. Pitches rated as unsatisfactory receive a demerit point, while an unfit rating incurs a more serious penalty of three demerit points.

Venues that accumulate five or more demerit points within a five-year period face a one-year ban from hosting international matches.
